Knowsley students celebrate exam success

Children from Knowsley have been celebrating after receiving their A-level and GCSE results and The Challenge was on hand to provide a pictorial record of their endeavours.

The Challenge toured Knowsley and their neighbouring borough schools to bring you the results of the hard work over the past years.

We recorded the results of students as they received their A-level results at Rainford High School which showed an 18% improvement with 52% of students achieving A* – B grades in their A-level results.

Ian Young principal at Rainford High said: “We are delighted to see that the hard work the school and students have put in to achieving excellent outcomes has seen strong results and that so many of our students will go on to attend some of the best universities in the country and start their careers with global companies. Our ethos and vision for the students who come to Rainford Sixth Form is to be brilliant and many have achieved that today.”

We also visited Carmel College, based on the border of Knowsley and St Helens which saw students achieving a very impressive 99% pass rate with 52% of grades at A*-B and 79% at A*-C. As they celebrated their success in style with bubbly and cake it was obvious they had enjoyed their time at Carmel and were looking forward to the next exciting stage of their careers.

According to The Times (19/08/16) Carmel College is confirmed once again as one of the top 10 Sixth Form Colleges in the country and the best performing college in Merseyside and Cheshire.

St John Bosco Arts College was next, and this year marked another record breaking year for the outstanding secondary school in Croxteth as 80% of pupils achieve grades A*-C. This marks the ninth consecutive year of improvement for the school.

A large number of students have also secured places at the university of their choice.
On GCSE results day we visited All Saints Catholic High School, Kirkby were provisional analysis of the results show that 72.3% of students achieved Distinction or Distinction* grades in 2016, also 100% of their leavers have entered further education, employment or training.

Kirkby High School also made good progress in the subject with a pass rate of 57.2% at grade C or above, an increase of 18% over the last two years.

At Knowsley Community College, students were celebrating after another successful year a pass rates of 95% in English at GCSE level and GCSE maths 93% pass rate.

Knowsley Community College principal, Anne Pryer said: “We are thrilled that our GCSE results are even better than last year’s – it’s a great start to being in our brand new campus which officially opens on Friday 7 October”.

Cllr Gary See, cabinet member for children’s services at Knowsley Council, said: “I want to congratulate all Knowsley students on the results they have achieved, and give my thanks to those who have worked hard to support them throughout their studies”.
