Appeal to help re-unite tourist with stolen Rucksack

Merseyside Police is appealing for the public's help to reunite a 19-year-old tourist with his rucksack after it was stolen close to the M58 motorway on Saturday, 9 August.
 
The man, who is visiting the UK from Russia, was stood at the top of the slip road at Junction 1 of the M58 trying to get a lift.
 
At around 2.20pm, what is believed to be a blue 4X4 type car with three men inside stopped and offered him a lift.
 
The men told him to put his rucksack into the boot, which he did, but before he could get into the car, they drove off.
 
The victim called the police and officers are now carrying out enquiries into the incident and providing the tourist with help, advice and reassurance.
 
The offenders in the car are all described as aged in their early 20s, of a slim build, with dark hair. They are also all believed to have been wearing sunglasses.
 
Constable Paul Mceneany said: "The man is travelling across the UK and was hoping to make it to Scotland to visit the Edinburgh Festival.
 
"Everything for his trip is inside his stolen rucksack, including his passport, clothes and some money.
 
"The rucksack itself is described as black and red and had camping gear strapped on the outside.
 
"He is obviously distraught at losing all his possessions and also very frightened at being stranded such a long way from home with none of his things.
 
"I would appeal to anyone with any information, or who thinks they may have seen either the car or the rucksack itself, to come forward.
 
"I would also make a direct appeal to the people who have taken the rucksack to search their consciences and put themselves in the position of the tourist. If they have any heart, they will find a way of returning it with all the items still inside."
 
An investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing.
