Tortoise Storage were celebrating the launch of their brand new family business which recently opened in Knowsley Business Park. Emma and John, the brother and sister team opened their first ever storage site in November 2019 after two years of planning and building works.
Self storage facilities are places where you rent your own space to store things that you do not have enough room for in your own home or business. Only you have access to this space and you come and go whenever you need.
Self storage is a steadily growing industry, with more and more houses being built with less storage space as well as an increase in awareness of what self storage is and how useful it can be in peoples’ homes and businesses are just two factors helping to fuel this growth.
Container storage facilities like Tortoise Storage are becoming a lot more popular and business owners setting up new container self storage sites are investing more in new containers, anti-condensation treatment, security and groundworks to make their sites an appealing alternative to the traditional container facilities that used to be the only option for storage.
Emma and John both agreed that despite many months of driving around the North West looking for potential sites, Knowsley had the most to offer.
Emma said: “It was a no brainer for us compared to other places we visited. We kept coming back to Knowsley, it just felt like home! It is a great location right next to the M57 and A580 with great links to not just Knowsley itself but other nearby towns.
“We could see a lot of investment going into the surrounding areas and there are plenty of other thriving businesses nearby with a great support network in the Knowsley Chamber. But the biggest thing that sold it was the people.
"When we were looking at the site, people weren’t afraid to come up to us and ask what we were planning, wish us luck and even offer to come and help at the weekends. We didn’t get that anywhere else!”
So fast forward two years, the work is complete and Tortoise Storage has opened its doors.
Emma and John held a launch party with friends, family, local businesses who were involved in the project and the Knowsley Chamber all descended on the storage site and celebrated with hot food, drinks and a raffle which raised over £350 for the Alzheimer’s Society – a cause which is very important to Emma and John and their family.
It is clear to see how much has been invested to make an immaculate and top grade storage site. From the security to the brand new units and the clean concrete roadways to the immaculate reception area, if you are looking for storage, it would be hard to find nicer.
Emma and John’s parting words were: “We would like to thank not just everyone who came to the party, but every local person who has helped us, supported us, advised us, wished us luck and offered to spread the word. We couldn’t ask for a better welcome for our first ever storage venture!”
