Huyton ABC remember fallen

Huyton ABC recently held a boxing show at The Venue in Huyton to mark Remembrance Sunday and remember the fallen in conflicts around the world.

Huyton ABC coach, Andy Robinson said: “The idea was to bring the boxing community together to recognise a significant date in our calendar and how we as a community should stand together as one regardless of origin or background.

“The evening was started of with a minutes silence to remember all the fallen soldiers throughout the world and in particular three soldiers from the Liverpool area.

“Sarah Bryant whom was the first female to die in combat, Leo Ryan and Paul Stout whom all lost their lives whilst on tour of Afghanistan

“We remembered them by having trophies named in their honour and it was decided by their family members whom would receive them in the evening of the event for the best boxer in three categories: best female, best schoolboy and best Junior.

“We would like to thank Britannia Taxis for a kind donation in the form of new kit and we also encouraged people to give generously to the poppy appeal  on the night.

“We want this to become an annual event and I would like to thank everyone involved from coaches, boxers, parents and volunteers especially Terry Mcelhinney from Body & Mind Unlimited-Sports Mind Coaching who supplied the tracksuits to the club.
