Firearm recovered from property in Huyton

An investigation is underway after a firearm was recovered from a property in Huyton last night, Sunday 5 November.
 
At 9.30pm officers on patrol observed a male getting out of a car and entering a property on Parkside Close.
 
Officers entered the property and discovered a quantity of cannabis. A further search of the property uncovered a loaded Luger 9mm handgun.
 
A 23 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
 
A 21 year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
 
The weapon has been forensically recovered and a further search of the premises is expected to take place today.
 
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Sephton said: "The latest recovery means there is one less firearm in circulation on our streets that could be used to cause fear, harm or even worse in our communities. We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime and will continue to carry out searches such as this to make our streets safer.

"Information from the community is vital in our fight against gun crime."
