Prescot aim for the stars

As one of the few Apple Distinguished Primary Schools in the UK, Prescot Primary School is always making plans for the next steps in their journey. A year ago, they raised enough money to buy six Sphero programmable devices which have transformed the coding curriculum in school.

The school works with RocketFund UK to raise funds in an engaging way. RocketFund is a non-profit crowd-funding platform for schools in the UK who has already helped over 450 schools raise over £350,000!

Deputy headteacher, Lisa Seddon, explained how important the children are in deciding on a pitch and creating a video with which to engage the community.

“Pranav Ganjam and Alfie Singleton, two of the senior digital leaders in school, helped to plan and film the video that can be found here: https://spsr.me/cLdZ . Children from reception classes also took part.

Lisa said: “This year, the aim is to raise £760. The school would like to buy four ‘DASH’ robots for the early years to use. These devices will help to prepare the children for the computing national curriculum – and the children will have lots of fun with them too”.
