Appeal for witnesses following robbery in Huyton

Merseyside Police is appealing for information following the robbery of a woman in Huyton.

At around 11.00pm, Sunday, 17 September, police received a report that a woman had been approached by a man described as wearing dark clothes wearing his hood up with his face exposed.
 
The woman had just got off the 10a bus on East Prescot Road and walked onto Dovecot Avenue, when the man approached her.  The offender grabbed her and told her to empty the contents of her pockets, and stole a small quantity of cash before running off.  He made off in the direction of Swanside Parade.
 
The suspect is described as being white, late thirties, early forties, 5’ 7" – 5’ 8”, of slim build with a gaunt face, wearing dark coloured clothes, he spoke with a Liverpool accent.
 
An investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing and CCTV opportunities are being explored.

Inspector Bobby Woodhall said: “We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward following this incident which was very frightening for the victim.  Thankfully, incidents such as this are extremely rare and I can reassure people that we are doing everything we can to trace and arrest the offender.
