Entries are now open for the third mass participation cycle ride around the wonderful, scenic routes of Knowsley this September.
The Working Well Knowsley’s Great Pedal Away! takes place on Sunday 10 September, starting and finishing at the Velodrome at Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park, Huyton.
Riders will be setting off between 9am-10am to complete one of the two routes:
• A 10 mile family-friendly route, along predominantly traffic-free cycle paths, or
• A 40 mile challenge route, which tours Knowsley’s quiet lanes and new cycle paths.
Both routes will be an exciting challenge for anyone wanting to test their ability and explore new places with new people.
Entry costs £10 per person, with all proceeds raising funds to buy new disability cycling equipment for the Wheels for All sessions run by Cycling Projects. Teams of five can enter for only £40.
Refreshments are provided along the route. Both routes will be clearly signposted, and every participant will receive a route card giving turn by turn directions. Free bike checks will be available before and after the ride.
One of last year’s riders said: “I did the Great Pedal Away last September and it’s hard to put into words how much better I feel about myself, physically and mentally.
“I am a lot fitter and I continue to lose weight which was one of my reasons for taking up cycling in the first place. Give it a go: you won’t be disappointed!”
Participants must enter before the event as places are strictly limited.
